As an Intermediate Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our projects, contributing to the design, analysis, and management of facilities in the oil and gas sector. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Impact and Responsibilities
• Perform piping and mechanical system design in accordance with specifications, codes, regulations, and recommended practices.
• Prepare written documents such as Design Basis Memorandums and other technical reports to meet client needs.
• Prepare cost estimates and monitor project budgets.
• Assist in the development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Drawing (P&IDs) and with equipment sizing and selection.
• Prepare Scopes of Work (SOW) and lead procurement processes throughout the project to ensure goods and services meet specifications and are delivered on time.
• Coordinate tasks, work schedules, and project deliverables to ensure that project objectives are achieved.
• Build and maintain healthy client, vendor, and sub-contractor relationships.
• Liaise with different disciplines to resolve design problems, discuss project criteria, and facilitate smooth project coordination.
• Participate in internal and external review meetings (Project Kick-Off, On-Site, PHA/HAZOPs, design reviews, 3D model reviews).
• Review design drawings and vendor shop drawings.
• Ensures QHSE requirements are met in project-related activities.
• Make field visits to project sites and provide support during start-up and commissioning.
Who We’re Looking For

• Demonstrable leadership skills and exceptional communication abilities, enabling strong connections across the company.
• Proficiency in project management software and engineering tools, with a strong understanding of design and construction processes.
• Demonstrated ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
• Experience in fast-paced, technically driven, project-based environment.
• Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities while maintaining focus on deliverables.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education with a degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, OR a diploma in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Technology combined with a CET designation.
• Eligibility for P.Eng. registration (APEGA and/or APEGS preferred), preference given to those with an additional PMP designation.
• 4+ years of applicable and progressive design and project management experience, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
• Field or Site Experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make analytical decisions and draw conclusions from comparative conditions.
• The ability to build relationships and network with ease, both internally as well as externally.
• Strong understanding and application of engineering codes and standards.
