Position Overview

The SPARK Foundation of Lloydminster is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating safe connections and lifelong wellbeing through support, education, and community-based initiatives. Brass & Thread Thrift Co. (B&T) operates as SPARK’s social enterprise, generating revenue to directly support these programs.

The Team Lead, Retail Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of B&T, ensuring efficient product flow from donation intake to sales floor while delivering a strong customer and donor experience. This role leads staff and volunteers, maintains merchandising and operational standards, and addresses challenges in real time to keep the store running effectively.

This position plays a key role in maximizing the impact of donated goods, supporting community engagement, and contributing to the financial sustainability of SPARK’s programs.

Wage

Wage Range: $24 - $30.02 per hour

Employment Status

Full Time, Permanent

Hours & Schedule

40 hours per week
Scheduled shifts including weekdays and weekends based on operational needs

Duties and Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily retail operations, ensuring efficient workflow from donation intake to sales floor
  • Lead and support staff and volunteers by providing direction, task delegation, and ongoing coaching
  • Maintain strong merchandising standards, cleanliness, and organization throughout the store
  • Monitor and manage inventory flow to prevent backlog or gaps on the sales floor
  • Adjust staffing, volunteer coordination, and priorities based on real-time operational needs
  • Ensure a positive, welcoming, and consistent customer and donor experience
  • Resolve customer and donor concerns using professionalism and sound judgment
  • Track key operational metrics including sales performance, productivity, and inventory movement
  • Support onboarding, basic training, and development of staff and volunteers
  • Coordinate internal communication and support marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and maintain a safe work environment
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and community organizations
  • Support vulnerable or unhoused individuals accessing services with professionalism, respect, and appropriate boundaries
  • Assist in planning and executing store events and promotions
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience in retail operations, leadership, or a similar role
  • Experience working with or supporting volunteers is considered an asset
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and retail systems (POS, inventory tracking)
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset but not required

Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move donated goods (up to 50 lbs)
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent task-switching
  • weekend and evening shifts required
